Westerville artists and volunteers create mural

The side of a huge storage shed will soon be covered with a mural encouraging people to find their own path.

The 16x68-foot wall of the Cellar Lumber Company’s shed is the blank canvas for the project, which is located, appropriately enough, next to a Westerville recreational path.

Part of the reason for undertaking such a painting is to prevent it from being sprayed with graffiti, but another is to encourage residents to work together, and to learn how to remain healthy. The mural is known as the ‘Mural on the Path’, and features a mix of adults, children, and Westerville landmarks, including a memorial to the 9/11 attack located in First Responders Park. The words ‘Create Your Own Path’ will loop through the middle of the mural.

The majority of the work is being funded by the Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County. The Board’s CEO, David Royer, says the idea behind the mural is to support Westerville, as well as promoting the concepts of wellbeing and health.

The mural was designed by Tim Lai Architects and is being carried to fruition by artist Jeremy Jarvis and his team.

Westerville officials could work with brochure printers to create a booklet about the artwork, and make it available via racks and other distributions points, where visitors could obtain a copy.
