An event set for mid-April will give Mentor residents a taste of a popular dish.
The Mac & Cheese Throwdown is an annual event that takes place in the nearby city of Willoughby. As a part of the day, attendees get to travel between 12 local restaurants in any order they choose. When they present the staff with their stroll passport, they will be given the chance to sample a unique take on the classic mac and cheese, as well as a specially crafted drink.
Sponsored by Smart and First Energy, this year’s edition will see a piece of the proceeds gifted to Working Animals Gifted Services for Kids (often shortened to WAGS 4 Kids), an organization that trains and houses potential service dogs for children with a variety of conditions. Its goal is to help kids who need one get their pup as soon as possible.
The check-in spot for the event is The Wild Goose, while all participating companies are also located in the downtown area’s historic district. Those who purchase one of the first 100 tickets will be given a special price of $35. Tickets after this will cost $40 until the day of, when the price will shift to $45. Tickets can be found via Eventbrite.
Also included in the ticket price is a book of coupons for local shops, as well as some merchandise with a graphic design relating to the event. Attendees can check in from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm, with the throwdown running from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on April 15.
