Officials have now set up and launched the Small Business Restart Program, which is designed to help small businesses that may be struggling. The sum of $200,000 was moved to the program's accounts from the Community Development Block Funds so businesses have the assistance they need.
Kevin Malecek, the director of the economic development department, said:
“It’s gonna take some time for us to recover from this. There’s been a significant impact negatively on our economy. Anything they can get to help with expenses they’ve had has been a tremendous benefit to them.”
Application Forms tend to feature official Letterheads. Every business eligible for the grant will receive $500 that will be used for mortgage and rental costs. In order to be eligible, the businesses must:
- Have fewer than 25 employees,
- Not be part of a franchise,
- Have a ‘brick and mortar’ store,
- Have been unable to conduct business due to the government order,
- Have obeyed the government’s stay-at-home order,
- Not currently be defaulting on a loan from the Mentor Economic Assistance Corporation,
More than 70 businesses have already submitted applications.
