Nursing students hope to inspire with video
Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society has a yearly tradition where its students participate in a community service project, and this year’s project from its nurses is a video with an inspirational message.
The students are enrolled at Lakeland Community College near Mentor. The pandemic limited their options on what they could do for their project this year, but they were still able to come up with a way to serve their community. The limitations brought on by social distancing meant they needed to use a camera to connect with people. They opened up about to Patch.com what it is like being a nurse and hoped that their courageous honesty could help others in the community. Some videos are watermarked with a logo design so that people know who made it.
LaToya Huddleston, a resident of Mentor, was on the video with her family where she said she was nervous about nursing at first, but after a while the confidence started to settle in. Connie Bowler, the school’s nursing director, said:
The students hope that their video will encourage more people to complete the four-semester nursing program at Lakeland.

“Although the students are making videos for future nursing students, the message is universal and applies to all of us, to keep going and stay strong to reach our goals and dreams.”
