The seat became vacant when Deanne Roberts resigned. Hassan will serve the rest of the term which ends at the end of 2021.
Hassan lives in Mentor and is known to be active in the PTA. She even served as a volunteer for the school’s Science Olympiad teams. She says that working for the PTA and volunteering for school activities gave her a way to connect with her daughter’s learning experiences. She also said:
“My involvement with Mentor Schools began when my daughter started kindergarten at Brentmoor Elementary. I was impressed with the quality of the education and wanted to be involved with the school.”
Serving on the board is her way of being formally involved in the school. Hasan holds a Master’s in the field of public administration that she got at Wright State University. She also has a master’s degree in psychology in human resources development and management. Her two bachelor’s degrees are in chemistry and botany, and journalism and mass communications which both came from the University of Allahabad.
The board considered several candidates and voted unanimously in favor of Hassan’s appointment. During the interview, Hasan won the board over by explaining her dedication to providing the community with a high-quality learning environment. Before the appointment, Hasan was a research analyst working at Lakeland Community College.
