A tournament for children highlighting the sport of hockey will be taking place in Mentor, as well as a few other locations, in mid-March.
The Ice of March Hockey Tournament is an event where kids can come together and play the long-enjoyed sport. There are four age groups, allowing for a fairer game to be played. The event follows a set of rules fully outlined in a document linked on the website for Mentor Youth Hockey. Posters made with the event Logo Design are often printed as part of the promotion of similar contests.
Each team is required to be registered with either the Canadian or American Hockey Association. The total count of players may not be any larger than 20, with 18 outfield players and 2 goaltenders. If a team has more than one color of jersey, it is best that both are brought to the competition to avoid the possibility of a color clash. The groups are known as the Mites, Squirts, Pee Wee, and Bantams. The latter three groups have a fee of $1,200 to enter, while the Mites (the youngest group) only pay $600.
Teams must prepare to play early, as sometimes proceedings move faster than planned. Coaches are required to have their rosters, as well as a permit for travel if it is required by their local sanctioning body. B, AA, and A level teams are permitted.
The locations include the Mentor Civic Ice Arena, Gilmour Academy Ice Arena, Euclid C. E. Orr Ice Arena, and the Serpentini Arena Winterhurst. The Tournament will take place at these venues from March 11 to March 13.
