The City of Mentor is set to hold an Independence Day celebration where residents can come together and celebrate their freedom. This is a welcome change after the event was cancelled last year because of the pandemic.
The event is free to attend. It will have a concert and the evening will end with a 25-minute fireworks show immediately after the concert. Food trucks at the event will sell popular food including burgers, gyros, and pizza. Visitors can also choose to buy from a selection of wines, beers and sparkling beverages.
At the concert, Darryl Worley, a national country recording artist with more than 20 songs listed on the Billboard Country Hot 100, will regale audiences with his soulful, country numbers.
Visitors can enter the Amphitheater grounds from 6:00 PM. They can bring blankets or lawn chairs and coolers to comfortably enjoy the evening. Inside the Amphitheater grounds, glass containers, outside alcohol, pets, tents, or shelters are not allowed.
To ensure the safety of visitors, COVID-19 protocols will be followed at the event. The number of people permitted to attend the concert may be limited and visitors will be allowed on a first-come/first-served basis.
The main sponsor for this event is Lake Health. The other sponsors for the event include Mutsko Insurance Services, Meijer, Mimi Vanderhaven, STERIS and Anheuser-Busch. Organizers of such events often use banner printing to thank and acknowledge their sponsors.
The celebration will be held on July 4 at Mentor Civic Center Park, which is located at 8600 Munson Road.
