Farmers Market set to reopen
Lovers of farm-fresh food will be able to pick up some organic produce at the Mentor Farmers Market, which is set to reopen.
The market will be allowed to operate as long as social distancing rules are followed. These guidelines are in place to ensure the safety of the city’s staff, vendors and shoppers who will be at the market. Vendors tend to use poster printing to make their stalls more attractive.
Kenn Kaminski is the director of Mentor Parks and Recreation. He sent a press release where he said that the market:
“Offers an opportunity for residents to purchase fresh-picked fruits and vegetables along with farm related items like honey, baked goods, flowers and teas.”
Buying produce from these farmers is one way to support the Farm to Table initiative. Anybody who would like to do more is invited to apply to become an official sponsor for the Mentor Farmer’s Market.
The market will officially reopen on June 26 at Garfield Park and it will be open from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Set up will be completed by 1:30 pm and it will continue whether it rains or shines. Farmers who apply to be vendors must grow at least 75% of the produce that they sell themselves and must live within 75 miles of Mentor. They can apply for a part of the season or the full season.
