Greg Hillis will be directing the Lake Effect Concert Band as they perform their popular ‘Holiday Pops’ concert in Painesville, a few miles east of Mentor.
The family-friendly show is expected to go on for about an hour and admission is free. Donations, as well as private and Corporate Gifts, would be greatly appreciated. The auditorium at the school is handicap-accessible and parking is free.
This event is the band’s second concert during its 2019-20 season. The audience will be entertained by a selection of holiday-themed tunes such as Christmas carols, popular holiday songs, and a few songs taken from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. Lindsey Sandham Leonard will be returning to sing memorable tracks such as Carpenter’s Merry Christmas and Darling.
The Lake Effect Concert Band is made up of 65 adults from local communities. They perform for free thanks to a sponsorship deal from the Snowbelt Musical Arts Association, which is a nonprofit that helps people in the Snowbelt Region get access to the resources that will make them better musical performers.
A star of many shows, Lindsey Sandham Leonard is a talented soprano who sings opera just as well as she does Broadway musicals and other popular songs. She has appeared on a number of reputable stages all over Ohio such as the Lakeland Theatre and Rabbit Run Theatre. She has also sung with the Akron Symphony and the Cleveland Opera.
The concert will start at 3:00 pm at Harvey High School on December 7.
