Construction of this new hospital is one of the projects that were discussed by the company CEO Dr. Tom Mihaljevic at a State of the Clinic address held in late February. At last year’s address, Dr. Mihaljevic made it clear that the project's goal would be to put up a hospital rather than an outpatient center. The clinic’s spokesman, Kate McLain, also said:
“Planning and design of the new hospital are underway and we are scheduled to break ground this spring.”
The new clinic will be located at 8020 Center St. The plot was purchased back in 2012 after approval was granted by the Planning Commission. The sale of the land was delayed until an amendment could be made to the Newell Creek development plan so that a medical campus could be installed instead of a lifestyle center. The plot’s new list of permitted uses includes a heliport, a hotel, a hospital, and a parking garage.
The land was cleared so that construction could begin five years ago. Signs for the Cleveland Clinic started being posted in 2016 on the southeast section of the plot. Print shops are often the go-to option for creating signs and Posters.
According to Dr. Mihaljevic, the Cleveland Clinic treated 2.4 million people in 2019, which is a 20% increase from the previous year.
