Teachers in Lewis Center who want to continue their education and professional development will have a noteworthy opportunity to look forward to later this summer.
The Soil & Water Quality in the Classroom gathering will be coming to Lewis Center’s Highbanks Metro Park this September to help teachers access a professional outdoor learning event. It is an ideal fit for science teachers who want to improve their classroom’s soil and water investigations with their students. The focus is on moving scientific research out of an indoor setting and into nature.
Participating teachers will take part in a hands-on dig that will help them build familiarity with the process to determine soil quality and identify freshwater sources. The instructor will also take a closer look at the effects of the agricultural industry on surrounding water and soil quality. Organizers and promoters can invest in brochure printing to provide more in-depth information about events like this to interested individuals.
Teachers will be able to carry these hands-on investigations into their classroom for the upcoming school year. Lunch will be provided. Supplies, lesson plans, and 0.7 Continuing Education Units are included with registration, and spots are limited.
Highbanks Metro Park in Lewis Center will host the educational opportunity. It is set for Friday, September 11th, running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Registration is open and free online.
