A public arts program called StreetSpark, in partnership with the Hamilton Community Foundation, City of Hamilton and the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, is inviting artists to submit their designs for some upcoming streetscape art projects.
Created to strengthen the city’s artistic identity via murals and other public art projects, StreetSpark attracts attention and enhances the city’s aesthetic appeal through high-quality art while providing opportunities for local artists.
Since its implementation, StreetSpark has overseen the creation of 16 murals and the painting of two utility Boxes. Each year since 2016, an invitation has gone out to the artistic community for design submissions. A selection committee made up of area art professionals as well as appreciators pick the winning murals.
Brochure printing services are helpful in promoting a community’s events and attractions to residents, visitors, and potential relocating families and businesses.
Designers may submit a maximum of three designs, although each is limited to having a single design selected. Those selected will receive a stipend. The retaining wall mural designer will have two supporting artists assigned for the project and will lead a number of community paint days.
The submission deadline for designs will be midnight January 30. The deadline for painter only spots will be midnight March 13. Through the end of March and throughout April, selected designers will receive their notifications and painter interviews will be held.
