Readers of all ages will be welcome to improve and practice their reading skills at the Fairfield Lane Library this January.
Participants will be reading out loud to several dogs who are in training for therapy and service positions. Some studies have shown that reading to or with a dog can provide budding readers with numerous benefits. These include helping to increase the self-confidence of a budding reader, and enhancing their skills and enjoyment of reading.
The dogs will be provided to the event by 4 Paws For Ability, which is a non-profit that provides service dogs to children and veterans with disabilities. The organization breeds dogs of good health and specific temperaments to create the highest quality of service dogs. Their dogs mitigate issues with many disabilities, including Alzheimer’s, autism, seizures, and mobility. The non-profit is also focused on educating the world about how to use and treat service dogs.
The event will take place on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Fairfield Lane Library, which is located at 1485 Corydale Dr. Interested parties need to call 858-3238 ext. 1321 to register for a 15-minute session. It is recommended that guests bring an email or text for proof of their registration, or use printing services to Print proof of their registration.
