Holiday tradition back in Fairfield

The Parade of Lights, now in its third year, will return to the streets of Fairfield near the end of the month.

The annual event is designed to bring together the entirety of the Fairfield community to celebrate the spirit of the holiday season. It will feature a parade of floats decorated with Christmas lights. These will be created by participants such as schools, businesses, community groups, city departments, and art and cultural organizations. A judging committee will award trophies to the first and second place winners of the most creative City Entry and Community Entry floats. Interested participants can fill out an application for their float below the graphic design on this page.

The Parade of Lights will also feature food vendors, live performances, activities, and other such events. Among these will be on-site ice sculpture carvings by Rock on Ice, a live performance by Dangerous Jim and the Slims, and a lighting of Village Green Park for the holiday season with Santa and Fairfield mayor, Steven Miller. More of these will be announced as the event draws closer.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 27 at Village Green Park, which is located at 301 Weasel Dr. The parade itself will start at 7:00 pm, but live entertainment and food vendors will be available starting at 4:00 pm.
