Fairfield welcomes cheesy event

A fun event is coming to Fairfield, as cheese lovers are going to get to indulge in their favorite treat.

The Big Cheese Festival brings together cheese makers from throughout the country. They will offer samples of their best cheeses, including familiar types of cheese like gouda, cheddar, and mozzarella, to artisan cheeses and rare specialty products.

The location for the festival is Jungle Jim's International Market, which is much more than a grocery store. It comprises five different venues – the Oscar Event Center, the Oscar Station, Paradise Pavilion, the Cooking School, and the Jungle Experience Center. The Big Cheese Festival has proven to be so popular that Jungle Jim's is moving it to the Oscar Station, a new event center.

The indoor space of the Oscar Station offers concrete floors and exposed ceilings, done in an industrial chic style. There is also an outdoor space that is climate controlled so that it can be enjoyed throughout the year. James O. Bonaminio started his business in 1971, as a simple fruit stand. He moved a number of times, but kept expanding until today Jungle Jim's is a full-service grocery. He even has jungle animals (artificial ones, but life size) on the premises.

The festival is set for February 8 and 9, from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm, on Jungle Jim's International Market on Dixie Highway in Fairfield. Flyer printing can provide informative handouts to attendees of this type of event.
