Memorial Day brings communities together to recognize the sacrifices made by military members, and Fairfield has organized a parade in their honor.
The organizers of the event have set the route for this year, and everyone is invited to come out and show their support. Anyone who would like to march is welcome provided they sign up by May 20.
The parade will feature veterans’ groups as well as the marching band from Fairfield High School. Firefighters, paramedics, and police officers will be participating, and the route will wind up in Veterans Memorial Park.
At the end of the parade, everyone will be able to remain and listen to some patriotic music. This will continue until the start of a ceremony that recognizes the sacrifices made by both the military members who returned home and those who lost their lives. There will be special guest speakers on hand to address the crowd as well.
The route for the parade will proceed down Hicks Boulevard, right on Niles Road, left on Bibury Road, and then right onto Weasel Drive before it ends at the park. Many of those who take part in parades or similar activities carry flags or Banners, and these can be prepared by a banner printing company.
This salute to veterans is scheduled for Monday, May 27. Its website offers a link to sign up for the procession.
