Fairfield plans Memorial Day activities

The city leaders in Fairfield are working on events to take place on Memorial Day.

A parade is considered one of the highlights each year as military units, veterans, the local police and fire departments, and the Fairfield High School Marching Band will be participating.

The parade is designed to pay homage to the veterans who have served the country. Both current and past veterans will be honored. Patriotic music will be performed at the Veterans Memorial Park starting at 10:00 am.

The parade route is about 1.4 miles long, on primarily flat ground. It will begin at Express Scripts, move down Hicks Blvd. turning right on Nilles Road, then turning left on Bibury Rd. to Wessel Dr and ending at Veterans Memorial Park. The park is located at 701 Wessel Dr.

Upon conclusion of the band presentation, there will be a ceremony. The mayor of Fairfield, Steve Miller, will be a guest speaker. Other speakers include representatives from relevant local veterans’ groups. The event is family friendly with everyone being respectful of the nature of it.

Banner printing is often handled by local Print shops for public events. The Banners are often used on floats, hung on buildings or posts, and inside facilities. They can depict information, direction, sponsors, group names and any other type of content pertinent for the event.

The Fairfield Memorial Day event will take place on May 30. Information is available on the city’s website.
