Fairfield fans of big rigs, heavy equipment, and first responder vehicles may find lots to talk about at an event planned with them in mind.
Both the young and the young at heart may enjoy the Touch a Truck activity on offer at Village Green Park later this month. A sensory-friendly hour has been built into the schedule for those who would prefer to attend without horns honking or other loud noises.
The event will see a wide assortment of “rigs,” ranging from construction trucks to heavy equipment and other vehicles. Once the sensory-friendly hour has drawn to a close, attendees can honk the horns, try the sirens, and explore the trucks, inside and out. Each will be accompanied by an attendee who will explain how the machine works and answer questions.
To ensure as many entries as possible will be on site for the morning, the planners have created an application form for anyone interested in showing off a vehicle. To thank them for their support, lunch will be provided. A banner printing company will be able to provide custom designed reusable signage for any special recurring event.
Fairfield will be hosting its Touch a Truck event on Friday, June 27 from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon, with the first hour set aside as sensory friendly. The application form for exhibitors can be found on the city’s website.
