The Fairfield Library, as well as the other Lane Libraries, will present a virtual author talk by bestselling author Namina Forna next year. This will be a part of the Lane Libraries series of virtual talks from New York Times bestselling authors.
Forna is the author responsible for creating the bestselling epic fantasy young adult novel, The Gilded Ones. She is originally from Sierra Leone in West Africa and moved to the United States when she was nine. She has a BA from Spelman College and a film and TV production MFA from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. At the moment, she works primarily as a screenwriter in Los Angeles.
The author's discussion will focus on the second installment of The Gilded Ones series, titled The Merciless Ones. This installment will pick up six months after the conclusion of the first book. The 16-year-old protagonist, Deka, will continue her journey with her army to stop the dark force that is causing a war across her kingdom. She will also discover more about herself and her powers, namely whether she will be a hero or a villain in the end.
The virtual talk will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 12. Interested potential guests will need to register on the Lane Libraries site before attending the event.
