Fairfield goes to the dogs

Fairfield's dogs, and their human “pet parents,” have a new area just for them.

The city is putting the finishing touches on FurField, a new dog park, which will open soon. Everyone is invited to celebrate the day, which has been anticipated since construction started last year. The event is expected to draw such a crowd that the police department will be on hand to help with parking and traffic control. Logo Design can be used to create a special symbol for projects like this.

FurField is at 6611 River Road, and on opening day, special arrangements will be in effect. Attendees are asked to observe the rules about parking, as well as pedestrian access, during the event. There will not be any parking allowed in FurField during the celebration, but drivers can park in residential areas near the park, at property that adjoins the FurField at Gray and River Roads, or at Marsh Lake Park.

Guests who are not bringing their dogs are particularly requested to park at Marsh Lake Park, where shuttles will available.

FurField covers 6.5 acres, and features a pond covering 800 square feet, several fields for play, a small play area for dogs, and shaded spaces where people can get together and relax. In the future, the park will also serve as a trailhead for the Great Miami River Trail.

The grand opening of FurField is set for October 12.
