Celebrate Earth Day in Fairfield

As the weather warms up, more outside activities are planned, including celebrations to honor Earth Day.

In Fairfield, Arrow Adventure has teamed up with the Metroparks of Butler County to offer a day of fun, service to the community, and a yoga session to relax at the end of the outing. This year’s Earth Day theme is “restore our earth,” and this event will enable people to enjoy hiking along the trails of Rentschler Metropark, where they will enjoy views of the Great Miami River.

They will also be able to take part in an activity designed to help the park, namely by removing the garlic mustard plant, an invasive species. Rentschler Forest MetroPark covers more than 400 acres that include woodlands, about a half-mile of trails beside the Great Miami River, plus remainders of the Miami-Erie Canal. There is also a reconstructed wetland, and an Indian earthwork that dates from prehistoric times.

To help remove the mustard plant, participants will need to bring a water bottle, a towel or mat, gloves, and a desire to help beautify the park. Once the weeds have been pulled, AVO Yoga’s Laura Taphorn will be on hand to conduct a relaxing 45-minute session of yoga. Banner printing can be used to create directional Signs for outdoor events like this.

Space is limited, so anyone interested should sign up soon. All mandated social distancing protocols will be followed.
