Aldi now open in Fairfield

German grocery chain Aldi is opening locations throughout the United States, and recently moved into Fairfield. Its recent launch drew over 200 people, some of whom waited in line for hours, to visit the store.

The Aldi is on Pleasant Avenue, and is taking over the spot where a Marsh grocery once stood. Aldi puts a great deal of emphasis on the fact it carries fresh products in its bakery, dairy, and produce sections. The store has a 22,150-square-foot area, giving it a lot of room to stock items its customers like best. New stores like this can use flyer printing to create maps and lists to help shoppers find the items they want.

The store is designed to feel light and airy, with high, open ceilings that take advantage of natural light. The director of real estate for Aldi, Russ White, said LED lighting, a refrigeration system that saves energy, recycled materials, and building materials that are environmentally friendly were used in construction.

Steve Miller, Fairfield's mayor, said the store is “beautiful,” and he's delighted to have Aldi open in the city. He believes the store's presence will encourage other major businesses to consider making Fairfield their home.

Aldi says it wants to add 650 new stores throughout the United States. The effort will cost the chain $3.4bn, and it wants to have these locations open late in 2022.
