An upcoming festival will give Dublin residents a chance to explore Japanese culture.

Dublin, Ohio, has a strong connection to Ireland and Irish heritage, but now residents have a chance to explore different traditions.

The Japan-America Society of Central Ohio (JASCO) is presenting the 2024 Summer Japan Fest where attendees can enjoy Japanese snacks vendors, food trucks, performances, games, and more as they learn about the culture of Japan.

Japanese drinks and snacks will be available from JASCO. Games include activities such as toy-goldfish fishing, and yo-yo sukui, which translates as yo-yo scooping, in which children try to scoop up yo-yos from a tub of water.

A non-profit organization, JASCO was founded at The Ohio State University in 1997 to promote goodwill between the U.S. and Japan by sharing Japanese culture and encouraging informed discussion of the relations between the two countries.

Pre-sale tickets are non-refundable, and are $20 for 25 tickets for non-members, and $20 for 30 tickets for members. Tickets sold at the festival are $1 per ticket for non-members with a minimum purchase of five tickets, and members can purchase 25 tickets for $20. Tickets cannot be used at retail vendors or food trucks, who will accept credit cards and/or cash.

The festival takes place August 17, from 4.00 pm until 8.00 pm, at Riverside Crossing Park on Riverside Drive in Dublin. Organizers of events like this will often turn to Print shops, who can create appropriate decorations for the celebrations.
