Playing sports is fun, but playing sports for a cause is even better.
The City of Dublin is teaming up with the Dublin Soccer League for the annual Dublin Charity Cup. The event is a fundraiser for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio. The charities that have received funds from the cup in past years include the Family Mentor Foundation, Festa, the Dublin Food Pantry, and more. During the last 33 years, over $790,000 has been raised and donated, and in 2022, 120 teams participated, raising $25,000 for Ohio charities.
The Ohio Soccer Association, affiliated with Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), and US Youth Soccer, has sanctioned the tournament. Each team taking part will play three games at a minimum, and the games will be officiated by referees certified by the USSF. Players will be allowed to play for only one team, and cannot switch during the tournament.
The teams will be categorized by the number of players, as either 11 v 11 full side, 9 v 9 small side, or 7 v 7 small side. The games are further divided into age groups, and into boys’ and girls’ teams. Awards will be given to finalists and champions in each division.
The Dublin Charity Cup is scheduled to take place September 2 and 3 at Darree Fields on Cosgray Road. Organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create programs for fans attending the games.
