Panasonic starts building office tower

Nearly a year after Panasonic signed the lease, and almost two decades after a foundation was laid in anticipation of a development that never came, construction on the electronic giant’s office tower in Newark, located just east of Dublin, has finally gotten underway.

Panasonic signed a lease last April with SJP Properties of Parsippany and the Matrix Development Group, who currently own the site. The lease is for 15 years, and Panasonic hopes to move in by 2013, taking possible delays in construction into account. The large electronics company will bring 800 employees with it and is anticipated to create an additional 600 jobs during the construction.

The beginning of work on the Panasonic tower represents the beginning of redevelopment in the area. Attorney Frank Giantomasi, who was in charge of handling project plans for the site, stated that the project is an ignition switch for regional development in the area.

As industry giants like Panasonic and other businesses open or relocate to Newark and the Dublin area, Print companies in and around the area may be able to draw in additional business. Companies that relocate to a new area typically need business card printing and Stationery printing to reflect their new address and information. They may also have long-term printing needs, such as flyer or poster printing, which can also be met by local printing companies.

Panasonic is relocating its headquarters in North America from Secaucus, New Jersey to Newark. The $200 million, 12-story tower is located at the intersection of McCarter Highway and Raymond Boulevard.
