Developer Crawford Hoying has unveiled plans for the Bridge Park project, which is part of a larger effort called Bridge Street and carries a price tag of $300m.
Bridge Park will be the first step in creating a district suitable for pedestrians in the heart of Dublin. It comprises 25 acres on the east side of the Scioto River, and it will be linked to the city's historic district via a pedestrian bridge. In addition, Dublin is improving its infrastructure, and will develop parkland on both sides of the Scioto as the project moves forward. It will spend $40m on these improvements.
The Bridge Park plans include a true mixed-use development of residential and commercial spaces, including 650 apartments, 150 condos, a hotel with 150 rooms, office space totaling 200,000 square feet, a banquet and convention space with 21,000 square feet, and space for retailers and restaurants. Parking, both above and below ground, will add another 800,000 square feet to the facility.
When finished, the Bridge Street District will be a pedestrian-friendly development covering 1,100 acres. The concept of mixed-use developments is popular in urban areas, but this is the first time such a project has been proposed for a suburb in the region.
Crawford Hoying could consider working with a poster printing company to create a rendering of the project for use at future meetings with the city council.
