What's Happening in Dublin, OH…

Hugely popular festival returns to Dublin

One of the most popular festivals in Ohio is returning to Dublin.

The Dublin Irish Festival is three days of fun and is the largest such celebration in the world. The event brings together 65 musical acts that comprise more than 535 performers from both Ireland and the United States. They will perform on seven different stages, offering everything from ballads to Celtic rock. There will be a dance competition as well, the Columbus Feis, which attracts approximately 1,500 Celli dancers from throughout the nation.

The festival overall is a celebration of Irish culture, which is presented on cultural stages. There, visitors can listen to stories, hear about folklore, listen to music, and take part in hands-on workshops. Lessons in how to play traditional instruments like the tin whistle or fiddle will be offered, and an Irish village from the 10th century will be recreated. People will also have a chance to research their genealogy, or root for their favorite Celtic sports.

No festival would be complete without food and shopping, and the Irish Festival has both. Traditional Irish dishes such as lamb stew and fish and chips will be available, as will American fare, some supplied by food trucks. Shoppers will enjoy the Emerald Isle and Marketplace where approximately 100 vendors will be offering everything from jewelry and art to crowns and kilts.

The 2012 Dublin Irish Festival is scheduled for August 6-8. Organizers can use banner printing to create sturdy decorations for outdoor events like this.
