Holiday fun awaits in Dublin

Many communities now mark the start of the holidays with special events, and Dublin is no exception.

The City of Dublin plans to officially start this year's holiday season with its annual Tree Lighting Event. Coffman Park at 5200 Emerald Parkway will be the site of the event, which is free to attend.

Seasonal entertainment and activities are planned, including making ornaments, and writing letters to Santa. Ice sculptors and stilt walkers will be demonstrating their skill, and special characters will make appearances. The Coffman Barn will house the Reindeer Rest Stop where Santa's reindeer can take a break, and is also the place to meet Santa himself, when he and Mrs. Claus arrive via horse-drawn sleigh.

The Fletcher Coffman House and Homestead will offer a “Victorian Christmas.” presented by the Dublin Historical Society. A decorated sleigh will be found in the barn, where it provides another opportunity for photos. People enjoying the evening will be able to warm up with the purchase of food and hot chocolate.

Members of the Washington Township Fire Department will be collecting unused or new toys for the Firefighters 4 Kids program, and will be located near the West Shelter House.

The tree lighting will take place December 3, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Santa will arrive at 6:40 pm to help with the ceremony, and will remain at the event so people have a chance to take photos. Banner printing can provide seasonal decorations for outdoor events like this.
