at the Bridge Street Firehouse on June 4.
There was a market in the district previously, but it moved to Oakland Nursery some years ago. The nursery is on Route 161, well outside the district, according to the Historic Dublin Business Association's president, Rick Gerber. Gerber noted that many Dublin residents expressed a desire to have a market in the district, which also coincided with the association's goal of increasing people's awareness of the district, and attracting more visitors to the area.
In March, Piccolo Farms' Terri Albanese contacted the association, asking about the possibility of starting a market, to be known as the Dublin Mercato. According to Gerber, her inquiry was:
“a god-send” that just “dropped in our lap.”
All the food is inspired by Italy, but sourced locally, except for olive oil and wine, which will be imported from Italy. Other products include bread, cheese, brown eggs, preserves, and dried sausages.
Weather permitting, the market will be open Thursdays from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., through September.
Flyer printing companies can devise useful handouts to assist visitors by listing things like vendors, parking locations, and any special events of the day.
