Dublin to host new play about Shakespeare

William Shakespeare's plays are still produced all over the world, but now, a new play about Shakespeare himself has been created and is coming to Dublin.

The world premiere play, Shakespeare's Bloody Deed, was written by Johnrick Hole, and was inspired by an actual incident in the playwright’s life. The comedy-fantasy work considers what Shakespeare and his friends might have had to go through to get the Globe Theatre built. They have to find a spot for the theater, get support from a government that doesn't particularly value the arts, deal with demanding personalities, and satisfy an audience that wants romance and spectacle. Productions like this can benefit when management uses poster printing to create advertisements for the play.

Among those historical figures who appear in the play are the Earl of Essex, Queen Elizabeth I, and Shakespeare himself, along with his troupe of actors. The bard and his friends only want to save their theater.

The show runs for two extended weekends. Dates and times for the production are this Thursday, June 6, at 8:00 pm; June 7, at 8:00 pm; June 8, at 8:00 pm; and June 9, at 2:00 pm. The next week, the performances again start on the Thursday, June 13, at 8:00 pm, and further 8:00 pm performances are scheduled for June 14 and 15. General admission is $25, while the price for the matinee, as well as seniors and students, is $20.
