Dublin to get new ice cream shop

Dublin residents who like the sweet treat of ice cream will be able to enjoy it even more, as Johnson's Real Ice Cream is planning to open a shop in the city.

This will be the second store for Johnson's, which opened its first in Bexley 67 years ago.

Matthew Wilcoxon owns Johnson's, and is from the fourth generation of family members to do so. He notes that the company scouted several locations, but jumped at the chance to move to Dublin when a space became available. Johnson's makes its ice cream at its Bexley plant, and will offer 40 flavors at the Dublin shop. It will also carry other treats such as pies, cakes, and novelties.

Johnson's also said it plans further expansion in 2017, and hopes to be able to launch a special ice cream that could be carried in grocery stores and by other retailers.

The Dublin shop will take over the location of the former Sisters Sweet Shoppe on West Bridge Street, with opening expected next month

New companies like this often work with a flyer printing company, which can create a handout for the new shop to distribute at the location shortly before the opening. The handout could include coupons for free or discounted ice cream for a day, inviting new customers to try the store.
