Brian Kern, who has been serving as the treasurer for the Olentangy schools, will take over the same post in Dublin, beginning September 1.
The Dublin schoolboard hired Kern on July 11, according to the Delaware Gazette. The school board in Olentangy will use three employee-search companies to find Kern's replacement, according to Mark Raiff, the superintendent.
Dave King, president of the Olentangy schoolboard, praised Kern for his work, saying he had done a great job for the schools, and they were sad to lose him. He credited Kern for the fact the district's bond rating was recently upgraded, and a ballot issue was passed in March. Before taking up his duties at Olentangy, Kern had been with the Dublin schools for ten years, serving from 2003-2007 as an accountant, and then from 2007-2013 as assistant treasurer.
Lynn May, the president of the Dublin schoolboard, said the organization was “excited and thrilled” to have Kern return to Dublin, this time as the district's treasurer/chief financial officer. She noted that Kern brings qualities with him that will benefit the district, including a wide variety of experience, knowledge of district operations, and his “track record of taxpayer dollars stewardship”. Kern will replace the current Dublin treasurer, Stephen Osborne.
