Dublin schools get help in their search for space

Officials of the Dublin City School District are looking for space to expand, and are working with real estate professionals to find the properties.

On October 24, members of the board of education approved an agreement with CBRE Group, a commercial real estate firm that began as Coldwell Banker, to help them in the search. The school district is looking for commercial buildings it can turn to educational uses.

The agreement says the district wants to lease or purchase an officer property comprising approximately 100,000 square feet that it can use for education, or as an alternative high school. The agreement, which lasts for one year, will help the district discover what kind of space is available in the local market, according to Jeff Stark, who is the school district’s business operations director. Stark says the real estate group has already brought several properties to the district’s attention.

Student enrollment projections have led district officials to look for an alternative high school, as well as a middle school and two new elementary schools. The district is not paying CBRE for its work; instead, the realtor will be paid when the landlord sells a building.

Officials in such communities might benefit by working with flyer printing companies, which can create detailed material for distribution to residents, who could be made aware of concerns and potentially suggest solutions.
