Dublin library under construction

Preliminary construction has begun on the Dublin branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, and work on the adjoining garage will begin soon.

The contractor on the project is Turner Construction, and it started work earlier month. The garage and the roads associated with it should be finished within the next 18 months.

The contract between the city of Dublin and Turner Construction for the garage was approved earlier this year, with Turner agreeing to bring the project in under a figure of $17.7m. The garage will offer 550 spaces, plus the project includes building two roads: North Franklin Street and Rock Cress Parkway. West North Street will also be rebuilt.

During construction, North High Street will be open in both directions, and the Indian Run and Darby Street parking lots will also be open. The new roads will improve traffic circulation, and improve walkability, making pedestrian traffic safer.

Terry Foegler, who is the director of strategic initiatives for Dublin, said the garage will provide parking both for library patrons, and people visiting downtown Dublin. The spacious new structure means the city will not have to resort to building surface parking lots and use up land downtown, which is scarce.

Projects like this are important to many people, so a flyer printing company can create a mailer for area residents affected by them.
