Dublin Irish Festival a hit

Dublin recently held its annual Dublin Irish Festival, and as expected, the three-day celebration was another huge hit for the city.

The blow-out celebrates all things Irish, and draws many thousands of people each year. The event is held on more than 20 acres, and has seven stages on which hundreds of performers from both the United States and Ireland offer up everything from ballads to Celtic rock.

An Irish festival wouldn't be complete without an Irish dance competition, an art form now familiar to many people thanks to the phenomenal show “Riverdance.” At the Irish Festival, 1,500 of the best Ceili dancers in the country competed in the Columbus Feis.

Irish culture is also presented on stages featuring hands-on workshops, music, folklore, and storytelling. Attendees had a chance to learn the tin whistle or the fiddle, traditional Irish instruments. An early Irish village was recreated as well.

Shoppers weren't neglected either, as the Emerald Island and Marketplace offered nearly 100 vendors who were selling everything visitors could think of, from instruments they made by hand, to replica weapons, jewelry, art, crowns, and kilts.

Once they finished shopping, festival-goers could stop for a traditional Irish meal of lamb stew or fish and chips. Of course, fair favorites like pizza and other goodies sold by food trucks were also available. Flyer printing can be used to create schedules for events like this.

The city is already planning next year's festival.
