Dublin gets set for concert series

Warmer weather means more outdoor activities, and in Dublin, that means music. The Dublin Arts Council (DAC) concert series, ‘Sundays at Scioto’, kicks off soon.

This is the 32nd year for the concerts, which are scheduled for eight consecutive weeks. The series is designed to showcase regional and local musicians who play and sing almost every kind of music, from country rock to big band swing. Guests sit on the lawn, and are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, and arrive early to find a good spot and get comfortable. There is no charge for the concerts, but donations will be accepted and are very much appreciated.

First in the lineup this year is Blair Crimmins & the Hookers, a group from Atlanta who play Dixieland, jazz, and ragtime, and the season ends with the first international act ever to attend: Socks in the Frying Pan, who are from Ireland. Their appearance leads into the city's Irish Festival.

The first concert of the year is coming up Sunday, June 7, at Scioto Park located at 7377 Riverside Drive. The last is on July 26. The concerts begin at 7:00 pm and run until about 8:30 pm. A complete list of performers can be found on the DAC website.

The series organizers could work with a banner printing company to create festive streamers that feature the name of the performers for each evening's concert.
