Dublin gears up for the 4th

The City of Dublin has a full day of fun planned to celebrate the 4th of July.

The party includes a parade, live entertainment, a fishing derby, and fireworks. The day kicks off at 8:00 am at Avery Pond, the site of the Sherm Sheldon Fishing Derby. The parade follows at 11:00 am, starting at the Metro Center and winding throughout the city’s historic downtown.

The Evening Celebration begins at 4:30 pm at the Dublin Coffman High School. The headliner of the concert is Ann Wilson, the lead vocalist of the bands Tripsitter, and the iconic group Heart. Heart formed in Seattle in 1973, with Wilson one of the founding members.

Wilson’s passion for her music and her extraordinary voice have won her acclaim as one of rock’s most influential artists. She has sales of over 35 million records, and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She has also been the recipient of a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Among the hits Heart is known for are “Magic Man,” “Crazy On You,” and “Barracuda.”

A fireworks display is scheduled to cap off the day, starting at 9:50 pm at Dublin Coffman High School. The activities have been planned with people of all ages in mind, so there is nothing that will be unsuitable for the youngsters.
