Dublin's official offices could be moving and consolidating, in what seems to be a sort of game of ‘musical chairs’.
The announcement came in a memo Dana McDaniel, the city manager, sent to members of the Dublin City Council, letting them know the city is considering buying the building that formerly housed Delta Energy. The property is at 5555 Perimeter Drive.
According to the memo, city operations would be relocated to Perimeter Drive. Workers in City Hall, including those in the finance department, the city manager's office, the City Council, and legislative services, would all make the move.
Another move would take place for people in the recreation department. They currently work out of the Dublin Community Recreation Center, but would relocate into the present City Hall, which is on Emerald Street. The goal of this move is add more programming space to the rec center, as well as bringing recreation programming to the old city hall.
Still another anticipated move will take place when and if the city sells the building that currently houses its department of development. At present, this facility is on Shier Rings Road, and proceeds from the sale of that building would be used to buy the Perimeter Drive site.
Changes like this of interest to many people, so officials might consider working with a newsletter printing company to keep information available to residents.
