Dublin approves contracts for teachers and support staff

In late May 2017, the Dublin Board of Education voted to approve contracts for the Dublin Educators' Association and the Dublin Support Association. The former represents teachers, and the latter represents staff members, which include aides of various kinds, cooks, custodians, secretaries, and transportation workers. The contracts run for three years.

Todd Hoadley, the superintendent, said negotiations were made much easier because the various parties were all willing to collaborate with one another amicably. As a result, everyone's salaries will go up: in the 2017-18 school year, the increase is 2%; in 2018-2019, it's 2.1%; and in 2019-2020, the raise is 2.15%. This means that a teacher's base pay for the next year will be $44,351. A teacher with 18 years in the system, a master's degree, and an additional 45 continuing education credit hours will max out at $101,564. In addition, the board voted to increase the stipends for those with 25 years’ service and above; and who have doctorates.

In addition to the faculty members, the schools in Dublin employ approximately 1,200 other staff members who have certifications of some kind, and another 600 supporting personnel.

Brian Kern, the school district's treasurer, said the agreement is in line with the financial forecast for the next five years.
