Dublin’s city council recently agreed to pay for a new roundabout, to be built by Columbus’s Complete General Construction. The $22.5m project will be located at Route 161 and Riverside Drive.
There are a number of other projects included in that price, such as installing a sanitary sewer line as well as other utilities, building a duct bank for DubLink and American Electric Power, and extending John Shields Parkway to Mooney Street from Riverside Drive. In addition, Riverside Drive itself will be restructured into a four-lane, divided thoroughfare.
Officials stated work should begin early in May of this year, and continue until completion, which is forecast for October 2016. Both Route 161 and Riverside Drive will remain open to traffic during construction. In addition, a staff memo noted that neither the bridge that crosses the Scioto River nor the intersection is likely to be totally closed during construction, though it is possible they might be closed intermittently as the work forges ahead.
Since these projects present what could be a degree of disruption in traffic patterns for Dublin’s drivers, city officials might consider working with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for residents. This could include a timetable of the work, the anticipated road closures, and suggested alternative routes for drivers to use during construction periods if they wish to simplify their journey.
