Co-working business expanding to Dublin

A business that rents office, event, and co-working spaces to individuals and businesses, would like to establish itself in Dublin.

COhatch, which was founded in Worthington in 2016 by Matt Davis, opened a second location in Worthington. Known as The Library, the office is located in the Kilbourne Memorial Building. Now, Davis hopes to open a third location, this time in Dublin.

Davis sent a letter to members of the Dublin City Council recently, informing them it wants to close on property on North High Street, which is currently the site of the Brazenhead Tavern. If the deal closes, COhatch would renovate the Brazenhead building, which offers 4,500 square feet, and also redevelop the rear lot, where there is another 5,500 square feet of space.

COhatch's vision is for a facility that mixes co-working space with private offices, food spaces, makers' spaces, and community and meeting space. An entertainment venue is also included, where local brewers would supply a shared bar, and live musical acts would appear.

If the agreement goes ahead, COhatch would buy the property and allow Brazenhead to remain in place as a tenant until its lease expires. New and unusual business ventures like this can benefit if operators distribute promotional Pens during opening events, both to welcome patrons and to build the brand.

A vote on the proposal could be held as soon as Monday, May 6.
