They have been nominated for various awards almost 100 times, and have 12 Grammys to their credit, including four for Best Rock Album. The Foo Fighters are the brainchild of Dave Grohl, who formed the band in 1994 after his first group, the legendary Nirvana, disbanded.
Grohl had been writing songs during his time with Nirvana, and taped 15 of them as a demo. He played every instrument and sang all the tracks himself, trying to create the impression the Tape was the work of an entire group. In order to help the illusion, Grohl came up with a band name, picking a slang term used by pilots in World War II for UFOs. Grohl sometimes regrets his choice, saying Foo Fighters is the world’s “stupidest” band name.
The tape was a sensation and he found himself putting a group together. Grohl has remained with the Foo Fighters since the beginning, as has Nate Mendel, the only original members. Other long-timers in the group are Chris Shiflett and Taylor Hawkins.
A review says:
“Great show! over 2 hours of (IMO) the Best Band In Rock! Love the Foo Fighters!”
The band will appear October 13, at 7:30 pm, at the Heritage Bank Center. Flyer printing is a great way to create publicity handouts for events like this.
