John Mellencamp is taking his Dancing Words Tour—The Greatest Hits to 19 cities across the country, including Cincinnati, where he will appear at the Riverbend Music Center. The concert is unusual since Mellencamp will perform all his hits in one evening, including songs that haven’t been heard live in decades.
Audiences will be treated to hits such as “Hurts So Good” and “Jack and Diane,” along with tunes that haven’t been heard in years, including “R.O.C.K.in the U.S.A.”
Mellencamp last toured with his “Live and in Person 2023” effort that sold out houses across the country. Of that tour, critics said:
“…it doesn’t appear that Mellencamp has any intention of slowing down or abandoning his trademark feistiness.”
Mellencamp began his career in 1976 and broke through with his fifth album, 1982’s “American Fool.” It contained two hit singles, “Hurts So Good,” which was in the Top 10 for 16 weeks, four at No. 2; and “Jack & Diane,” which sat in the No. 1 spot for four weeks. “Hurts So Good” won a Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. Other awards include the John Steinbeck Award, and the Founders Award, the highest award given by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
Mellencamp will be at the Riverbend Music Center on July 19. Poster printing allows organizers of this type of event to create advertisements for it.
