A tribute band that combines the music of three other groups into something unique is on the way to Cincinnati.
Pink Talking Fish (PTF) pays tribute to Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish. Each of the three iconic groups has a sound and style all its own, but PTF manages to combine them without losing the flavor of the original. They draw on Pink Floyd’s emotion, Phish’s fun, and the danceable music of Talking Heads.
PTF does more than perform the songs of the original bands, they find a way to combine elements, such as dropping “On the Run” by Pink Floyd into the middle of “You Enjoy Myself” by Phish, or putting “Sand” by Phish in the middle of “Slippery People,” a Talking Heads classic.
Audiences also have a lot of fun spotting the connections when PFT segues through songs from all three groups, such as moving from “Run Like Hell” (Pink Floyd) to “Making Flippy Floppy” (Talking Heads) to “Piper” (Phish) and back to “Run Like Hell.”
This creative band comprises guitarist Cal Kehoe, drummer Zack Burwick, Stephen Learson and Richard James on keyboards, and bassist Eric Gould, all of whom love the music of the bands they are honoring. Since they are always varying the show, audiences never see the same performance twice.
Pink Talking Fish will be appearing March 13 at the Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati. Shows like this need audiences, who can be invited to attend when organizers create colorful advertising using poster printing.
