The group Foghat first got together in 1971 in London, founded by “Lonesome” Dave Peverett, Roger Earl, and Tony Stevens, all who left Savoy Brown to go out on their own. The fourth founder was Rod Price, who was with Black Cat Bones before joining the new group. They are known for using electric slide guitar, a technique common with Blues musicians.
They released their debut album, “Foghat,” in 1972, which was rated Gold in the United States by the RIAA. However, it wasn’t until their fifth album, 1975’s “Fool for the City,” that they broke through. The album went Platinum and contained the iconic song “Slow Ride.” In 1977, they released their first live album, “Foghat Live,” which went 2x Platinum and solidified their reputation as one of the best rock bands to see live.
Having dropped 17 studio albums, nine live albums, eight compilations, and 19 singles, the original lineup has changed, but the band is going strong, performing and recording. Their latest studio album, “Sonic Majo,” dropped in 2023 and hit the No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart, remaining for 34 weeks in the Top 10. A review says:
“FOGHAT put on a wonderful show!! . . . Thanks for the memories!!!”
Foghat will be at the Ludlow Garage on October 12. When they plan performances like this, organizers can use poster printing to devise advertisements for them.
