Queen of Soul remembered in Cincinnati

A tribute to one of the greatest of all vocalists is coming to Cincinnati soon.

The event is entitled “Aretha: The Queen of Soul,” a title that accurately sums up Aretha Franklin's career. She sang for more than 60 years, influencing and inspiring many aspiring vocalists and musicians. During the long span of her career, Aretha won 18 Grammy Awards, and recorded a number of songs that are now regarded as classics. She was awarded the highest civilian honor the United States can bestow, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and Rolling Stone magazine named her as #1 on its “Greatest Singers of All Time” list. Her best-known hits include “Respect” and “Chain of Fools.”

Charity Lockhart stars in the production, accompanied by talented musicians and singers, who are all coming together to celebrate life and career of Aretha Franklin. Lockhart has been performing since she was six years old, and was once lead singer in the teen band Revelation. She now lives part of the year in Arizona and part in Japan, where she tours regularly.

The show “Aretha: The Queen of Soul” is set for January 17, 2020, from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm, at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Brochure printing could be used to provide programs for events like this, profiling both the original artist and the interpreter.
