Artists who can genuinely be called music icons are coming to Cincinnati.
The 2024 Outlaw Music Festival Tour is on the road to various venues throughout the country. Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, and Willie Nelson & Family are the headliners, with support from Southern Avenue.
A towering figure in country music, Willie Nelson is generally recognized as one of the founders of the “outlaw country” subgenre. Nelson and other artists such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Waylon Jennings created the outlaw sound to push back against the sound approved by the Nashville establishment.
Bob Dylan has been a major figure in music for more than six decades. A prolific songwriter, songs like “The Times They Are a-Changing” and “Blowin’ in the Wind” became anthems for Vietnam protests and civil rights champions.
Singer/songwriter John Mellencamp specializes in the genre known as heartland rock, and had great success in the 1980s, when he put ten singles into the Top 10, including “R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.,” and “Jack & Diane.”
Southern Avenue is one of a growing number of bands with a frontwoman, in this case Tierinii Jackson. She and the Memphis-based group have been nominated for a Grammy for their original songs and the masterful guitar work by Ori Naftaly.
This incredible lineup will be at the Riverbend Music Center on September 11. To spread the word about shows like this, organizers often use poster printing.
