Noted band to call in on Cincinnati

A band that plays Southern rock, blues and Americana is on tour, bringing a talented singer/songwriter with them. One of their stops is Cincinnati.

The Paul Thorn Band is touring with Scott Miller as their guest. Paul Thorn was born in Wisconsin and raised in Mississippi, where he enjoyed success as a professional boxer before turning to music. He developed a style that mixed blues and rock and played numerous gigs in the local area before Miles Copeland discovered him and brought him to the attention of A&M Records, who signed him. His 2008 album “A Long Way from Tupelo” hit the number 7 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Thorn opened for names like Jeff Beck and Huey Lewis & the News, and assembled his own band of talented musicians. Poster printing can provide exciting advertising for events like this.

Scott Miller is a singer/songwriter who was inducted into the East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame. He also runs his family farm in Virginia while he continues to perform and write his own music, which is informed by Appalachia and its history. AllMusic.com describes Miller as combining:

“. . . the emotional honesty and intelligence of a singer/songwriter with the swagger and enthusiasm of a rock & roller… a gifted and eclectic solo artist.”

The Thorn/Miller concert is set for July 29 at 8:00 pm at Memorial Hall.
