A low-cost flight from Cincinnati to the New York area will go into service later this year.
Allegiant, a budget carrier, plans to add four flight per week to Newark, New Jersey's Liberty International Airport from Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport.
The CEO of the airport, which bears the designation CVG, is Candace McGraw, who said that having Allegiant fly from Cincinnati to New York is a first for the region. She reports that the airline has been growing rapidly, and is happy it has chosen CVG as the airport from which it is launching its first service to the New York City area.
Allegiant is based in Las Vegas, and its route from Cincinnati to New York is its fourteenth. At the moment, it flies to Austin, Texas; Las Vegas; New Orleans; Phoenix; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; and Washington D.C. In addition, it voyages to six Florida cities. The airlines decision to add the flight is another milestone in its growth, and follows a pattern established by other vacation and low-cost carriers, such as Denver's Frontier Airlines.
Allegiant's COO, Jude Bricker, said the company was excited to continue its growth at CVG, and to provide a great new destination for travelers from the Cincinnati area. Allegiant is giving away a free flight to introduce the service, which will start this November 16.
