Musical fun in Cincinnati

The holidays are a time for music, and none is more welcome that a traditional concert by the Holiday Pops Orchestra.

Members of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra make up the Pops ensemble, and will play their annual concert with John Morris Russell on the podium. The guest artists for the event are The Studio for Dance; the Sycamore High School Select Ensemble, under the direction of Ken Holdt; the School for the Creative and Performing Arts Chorale, directed by Richard Hand; the Winton Woods High School Varsity Ensemble, directed by Beth Miller; tenor Bernard Holcomb; and the Annie Moses Band, was given an enthusiastic response by audiences at Riverbend.

The venue for the concert is the Music Hall, which will be transformed into a frosty wonderland where audiences will enjoy a performance of holiday favorites. Bernard Holcomb is an alum of the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at the Lyric Opera in Chicago, and has performed in such productions as “Rigoletto” at the Seattle Opera, and in “Porgy and Bess” in Italy.

The orchestra wants everyone to enjoy the music, no matter what their budget is, so attendees can pay whatever they wish. The concerts are set for December 9 at 11:00 am and 7.30 pm, December 10 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm, and December 11 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
